install new version of ghostscript
wget http://downloads.ghostscript.com/public/old-gs-releases/ghostscript-9.18.tar.gz
tar -xzf ghostscript-9.18.tar.gz
cd ghostscript-9.18
sudo ./configure
sudo make
sudo make install
