Aurora/Yalp just allow you to download apps available on the Play Store directly from Google's servers.
APKPure and APKMirror are repositories that reupload apks from the Play Store, but use signature/hash verification to ensure they are safe. APKMirror hosts a few other apps not available on Google Play, but they tend to be mostly from XDA and well-known. Random apks can't be uploaded by anybody.
Apptoide is an alternative Store any developer can submit their app to, but claim to be even safer and more secure then the Play Store. They do have a good reputation and presumably perform all the same checks Google does.
