VSCode config to disable popular extensions' annoyances (telemetry, notifications, welcome pages, etc.)
// I'm tired of extensions that automatically:
// - show welcome pages / walkthroughs
// - show release notes
// - send telemetry
// - recommend things
//
// This disables all of that stuff.
// If you have more config, leave a comment so I can add it!!

How to disable the very little-known AT&T setting that can appear to hijack your home DNS lookups and redirect to 104.239.207.44

How to disable the very little-known AT&T setting that can appear to hijack your home DNS lookups and redirect to 104.239.207.44

Issue

DNS queries on home network suddenly resolving hosts to 104.239.207.44.

Symptoms

You will see SPORADIC mis-resolutions of EVERYTHING to that 104.239.207.44 address if their crappy router happens to hear your PC's DHCP request - EVEN IF ANOTHER DHCP SERVER ON THE NETWORK assigns the ultimate address.

Big list of http static server one-liners

Each of these commands will run an ad hoc http static server in your current (or specified) directory, available at http://localhost:8000. Use this power wisely.

Discussion on reddit.

Python 2.x

$ python -m SimpleHTTPServer 8000

When given a blog rss feed, count_the_Is.py determines the number of first-person pronouns as a percentage of the total text.
#!/usr/bin/env python

from pyquery import PyQuery as pq
FIRST_PERSON_PRONOUNS = [
' I ', ' I\'d ', ' I\'m ',
' me ', ' my ', ' mine ', ' myself ', ' Me ', ' My ', ' Mine ', ' Myself ',

SCSS mixin for cross-browser background-color: rgba(...). You'll need the Ruby extension for convenient color conversion rgba->hex (IE uses ARGB)
@mixin background-rgba($r,$g,$b,$a) {
// To mimic this in Internet Explorer, you can use the proprietary filter
// property to create a gradient with the same start and end color, along
// with an alpha transparency value.

$value: unquote("progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient(GradientType=0,startColorstr=##{$color},endColorstr=##{$color})");
