@yann1420 Fixed!
I have a factory-reset chromecast, all it shows is a message telling me to download the app to setup.
I don't know which IP does it have, it doesn't show up on my router (which makes sense since it doesn't know the SSID/password). What am i missing? Is this because uPnP is off in the router?
After installing jq and nodejs, it worked great on a factory reset NC2-6A5 after Google killed their android apps talking to it.
Thanks for getting it back!
Thank you for this script. It seems really important nowadays!
I tried to remove the nodejs dependency here: https://gist.github.com/DavidePrincipi/e2007b998bb66ea69a1ff7832af6c417/revisions#diff-f602019a80ebff228e17d6515aa93d17d299f6c0dc3610962565f7d637091e33
It seems that 5GHz WiFi channels above 149 are not supported by some firmware versions, so disconnecting the device after calling setup/connect_wifi is not caused by an issue on this script
Good job! !!! Your research is the only way to configure a Chromecast since Google's CA is expired (205-03-09) for *cast (chromecast,nest,autiocast,...)
I rewrote the script in python3 :
https://gist.github.com/1mm0rt41PC/78e134d43e5badf3cc999bdf33e1fdd5
This works. Thank you.
One remark though, line 19 says ' echo 1>&2 "Install jq to use this script!"' but should say ' echo 1>&2 "Install curl to use this script!"'
