How to install MS Core fonts on Fedora

• install dependencies

$ sudo dnf install -y rpm-build ttmkfdir

• prep the work space

$ mkdir -p $HOME/rpmbuild/{RPMS/noarch,BUILD}
$ echo '_topdir' > ~/.rpmmacros

• build the RPM package

$ wget https://gist.githubusercontent.com/ervinb/f5042369a1447fedc804a09d87e60997/raw/msttcorefonts-2.5-1.spec
$ rpmbuild -bb msttcorefonts-2.5-1.spec

• install the fonts

$ sudo dnf install ~/rpmbuild/RPMS/noarch/msttcorefonts-2.5-1.noarch.rpm

The TrueType core fonts for the web that was once available from
http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fontpack/. The src rpm is cleverly
constructed so that the actual fonts are downloaded from Sourceforge's site
at build time. Therefore this package technically does not 'redistribute'
the fonts, it just makes it easy to install them on a linux system.

Works ok on Fedora 33

Works fine on Fedora 34, but for me the second command (mkdir -p $HOME/rpmbuild/{RPMS/noarch,BUILD}) wasn't necessary. And also, why did you add the file here and link to it here, rather than link to the original .spec file: http://corefonts.sourceforge.net/msttcorefonts-2.5-1.spec

Oh, also, I forgot to mention, you need to install 'cabextract' at the start, as it is also a dependency
