Ideas for things to do in Japan

Going to Japan 11th to 27th of May. Here's some ideas for things to do.

Before

• Get a rail pass for the bullet train network: http://www.japanrailpass.net/05/en05_3.html

  It would be ~550 EUR per person: http://www.japanrailpass.net/eng/en003.html

• Check if Icelandic or Spanish citizens need a visa. I don't htink so. Have sent an E-mail to the Japanese embassy to check.

General

• Buy something from a crazy vending machine

Food

• Eat Fugu, or die.

Places

• Go to the Gibli museum, death by cuteness

• Go to the historic town of Kanazawa. This'll also one of the three most famous gardens in Japan.

• Visit Shikoku island. Not that far out of the way from Kansai, it's also Japan's best whitewater rafting region 1. Maybe even 2

Tokyo

• The technology district.

• The fish market

Accommodation

• Stay in a hotel with a Futon bed. Likely a Ryokan inn.
