Nginx FastCGI cache configuration example.

Nginx FastCGI cache

Example /etc/nginx/nginx.conf using FastCGI (e.g. to PHP-FPM) with FastCGI cache enabled. This will capture returned data and persist it to a disk based cache store for a configurable amount of time, great for robust full page caching.

Will need to create a directory to hold cache files, for the example given here that would be:

$ sudo mkdir -p /var/cache/nginxfastcgi
$ chown www-data: /var/cache/nginxfastcgi

Example Nginx configuration for adding cross-origin resource sharing (CORS) support to reverse proxied APIs
#
# CORS header support
#
# One way to use this is by placing it into a file called "cors_support"
# under your Nginx configuration directory and placing the following
# statement inside your **location** block(s):
#
# include cors_support;
#
# As of Nginx 1.7.5, add_header supports an "always" parameter which

Convert .crt & .key files into .pem file for HTTParty

Two ways to do it, but only worked for me so I'll put it first and the second for reference:

$ openssl pkcs12 -export -in hostname.crt -inkey hsotname.key -out hostname.p12
$ openssl pkcs12 -in hostname.p12 -nodes -out hostname.pem

Other options for this method in comments below:

# Note, the -certfile root.crt appends all CA certs to the export, I've never needed these so it's optional for my personal steps
$ openssl pkcs12 -export -in hostname.crt -inkey hsotname.key -certfile root.crt -out hostname.p12

Note, I've always had my hostname.crt as part of my .pem, so I keep my certs but apparently you may not have to, hence the nocerts flag being an extra option in this sample
