| PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS ON FAIRER WAGES | |
| "A Nation That Honors Work Must Honor Workers" | |
| My fellow Americans, | |
| Tonight, I want to speak about something fundamental to the American promise — the dignity of work, and the fairness of the wages that reward it. | |
| From the earliest days of our Republic, we have believed that opportunity is not inherited; it is earned. That belief has carried us through wars, depressions, and eras of extraordinary change. But opportunity cannot survive on belief alone. It must be supported by a simple, unshakable principle: | |
| If you work hard in the United States of America, you should be able to build a decent life. | |
| Yet for too many Americans, that promise has slipped out of reach. Families are working longer hours, juggling multiple jobs, and still struggling to keep pace with rising costs. Productivity has soared. Corporate profits have reached new heights. But wages — the lifeline of the American household — have not kept up. | |
| This is not the America we aspire to be. | |
| A fair wage is not a handout. It is not charity. It is the rightful return on the sweat, skill, and sacrifice of the American worker. It is the recognition that our economy is not powered by numbers on a spreadsheet, but by people — real people — who show up every day to keep this nation moving. | |
| When wages are fair, families are stronger. | |
| When wages are fair, communities are safer. | |
| When wages are fair, America is more competitive on the world stage. | |
| Fair wages are not just an economic policy. They are a national value. | |
| So tonight, I am calling on business leaders, lawmakers, and communities across this country to join me in renewing our commitment to the American worker. Let us build an economy where every job pays enough to live on. Where no parent has to choose between groceries and rent. Where hard work is rewarded, not exploited. | |
| This is not a partisan issue. It is an American issue. | |
| It is about respect. | |
| It is about stability. | |
| It is about the future we want for our children. | |
| Let us move forward together — not as Democrats or Republicans, but as citizens who believe in the dignity of work and the fairness of wages. Let us build a nation where prosperity is shared, opportunity is real, and every worker knows that their country sees them, values them, and stands with them. | |
| Because when we honor the American worker, we honor America itself. | |
| Thank you, and may God bless the United States of America. |
