Random thoughts: Data gardening...
Since moving to DC three years ago, I've come to miss gardening. But, that said, it's been interesting how I've been pushing the garden analogy on to some of my work. Been doing a lot of data stewardship lately, which in many ways is similar. Tending data, weeding the bad data, growing it, and then harvesting its bounty on a regular basis, to include sharing some of it with neighbors and occasionally showing off some of the gems from the latest crop. And, instead of garden stakes to remind me which seeds I planted where, I have metadata. There can be something oddly therapeutic about curating data as well... So I guess now it's a data garden that I tend instead. Granted, I can't make salads or stir fries like I used to but it's not bad.
