You don't really open hashcat, you just run it. The behavior your describing sounds normal. Also, this is 5 years old and was just a reference to the help menu, you should probably just run "hashcat --help" for the latest, and watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfqJCKWtGiU

i need help it says this every time I try to normally open hashcat in kali Linux I think it's thinking I'm going to finish the command but I'm just trying to open it normally any help.
